Immersion Blog #1: Seeking for Industry...
Immersion is to give students first-hand experience of the
work environment applying knowledge, skill sets and techniques that have gained
from the classroom in real life situations.
It was Wednesday April 12, 2017, I
was really excited to be immersed in an industry so I have passed a letter
to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines situated at the Poro Point
San Fernando, La Union. Upon submitting
my letter to the HR Officer, she ask me if from where am I and from what school
and course are taking. After answering all her queries she told me that they
are not accepting Graduate Programs only undergraduate programs. So my application
for immersion at the NGCP was rejected.
After being rejected at the NGCP I
tried to submit my letter of immersion to another company, which is Holcim
Philippines – Bacnotan Branch, situated at the Quirino, Bacnotan. La Union last
April 17, 2017. Unluckily the HR Manager was on official business for one (1)
week. So I have waited for a week for the result of my application for immersion.
It was Monday, April 24, 2017 when I followed up my letter, again the HR
Manager is on its meeting for the whole day. On April 25, 2017 the HR Manager
told me that there are also trainees lined up for their immersion on the
company. Again I was not accepted at the Holcim, Philippines but I didn’t lost
hope. On the same day I have applied at
Municipality of Bacnotan, and submitted a letter to the Municipal Mayor and
luckily I have been accepted.
Wednesday, April 26, 2017, I have reported and talk to Dr. Annabelle Pada and observe their IT Operations of the Health Care Unit and showed me the system being used the unit which is also being used by other units entire the Philippines which is the iClinicSys. On that day Dr. Pada told me that I need to join the Medical Team to observe their process. On the next day I have joined the Dur-as program of the LGU – Bacnotan together with the Medical Team. I can say that Information Technology can be a great help in this field, even though a study for this but its holding me back in focusing “IT in Medicine”, so I decided to check the municipal agriculture office.
In the afternoon, I have visited also the Municipal Agriculture Office to talk to Ms. Eulalia Llarenas, the Municipal Agriculturist (head of the unit), but she’s on official business that day. It was Friday, April 28, 2017, I came back to the Office Municipal Agriculture to talk to Ms. Eulalia Llarenas. The municipal agriculture office has lots to offer like in the field of rice, corn and many more. So I have approach Mr. Samuel Leoderes, Agricultural Technologist at the Office of Municipal Agriculture and talked some matter on rice and corn where i can focus on my study.
A very tiring first week of immersion but a happy heart indeed.
