Immersion Blog # 2 - Getting Started...

To continue my story line, industry immersion as one of our requirements for the degree of Doctor in Information Technology (DIT). I am a DIT student from Technological Institute of the Philippines - Quezon City.

Last week April 26 to 28, I started my industry immersion in the Municipality of Bacnotan. Bacnotan is a first class municipality in the province of La Union, Philippines. Its economic activities in Bacnotan mostly involve farming, fishing, bee-keeping, pebble extraction, tourism and Portland cement manufacture. Bacnotan is the seat of the beekeeping industry in La Union.

Back to my story. After two nights of thinking what would my study will focus on. I am confused on what to say when asked on what will be my research interest for the duration of the immersion. Then I have decided to go into agriculture particularly in corn. So I have approach Mr. Samuel Leoderes, Agricultural Technologist at the Office of Municipal Agriculture and talked some matters about corn which can guide me on the study.

With my immersion adviser, Mr. Samuel Leoderes, Agricultural Technologist at Municipal Agriculture Office at the Municipality of Bacnotan. He is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Agriculture at DMMMSU – NLUC, Bacnotan, La Union. I will have to report to him so that he could monitor my progress. He said that in doing research, there are many areas to consider, you need to have focus only in one area so that you can do it. He also suggest that I need to read many previous researches conducted and its literature he said.

This is how my second week of immersion went by choosing a research topic, assigned a mentor, and ask if i could develop them an Information System since I'm an IT and did reading and update Sir Samuel. He gave me all the requirements needed in developing the system like the fields to be used and reports to be generated. This week, May 2-5, I am continuing to  develop the system and also to continue with my readings and research on other studies. I am still searching on the internet for the researches related to the study that i will focus on so that I can have some basis for the conduct of the study.

Just do your best and God will do the rest.

Immersion Blog # 4 - Almost Final...

This week May 15 - 19, 2017. This is my fourth blog. This blog is about my immersion at the Municipality of Bacnotan at the Municipal Agriculture Office, Bacnotan, La Union. This relates about my involvement while doing my immersion as a Doctorate student at TIP Quezon City taking up Doctor in Information Technology. I have met some of the persons whom I can ask also for the assistance while I'm doing my research study.   This week also i have presented my study to my mentor sir Samuel for the revisions and adding some important things that will be included on my study. And its the time of the presentation of the developed system "Farmers Profile Information System". Immersion Blog #3 - Developing...Learning...Reading is Enjoyable

This is how my third week of immersion went.. This week (May 8 - 12, 2017) there are lots of things I have done. It was Monday when I continue designing the system when my mentor (Sir Samuel) introduced me to Ma'am Felisa L. Partible, Corn Coordinator of the Municipal Agriculture Office. He told me that she can also help me on the study that I will be conducting.  Right after the meeting Ma'am Partible invited me join on their field day presentation on the Corn Production Technology Demonstration Trial. She told me that there are many studies conducted among different provinces in Region 1, and Bacnotan  La Unionis was included.
