Immersion Blog #3 - Developing...Learning...Reading is Enjoyable

This is how my third week of immersion went.. This week (May 8 - 12, 2017) there are lots of things I have done. It was Monday when I continue designing the system when my mentor (Sir Samuel) introduced me to Ma'am Felisa L. Partible, Corn Coordinator of the Municipal Agriculture Office. He told me that she can also help me on the study that I will be conducting.  Right after the meeting Ma'am Partible invited me join on their field day presentation on the Corn Production Technology Demonstration Trial. She told me that there are many studies conducted among different provinces in Region 1, and Bacnotan  La Unionis was included. Immersion Blog # 2 - Getting Started...

To continue my story line, industry immersion as one of our requirements for the degree of Doctor in Information Technology (DIT). I am a DIT student from Technological Institute of the Philippines - Quezon City. Last week April 26 to 28, I started my industry immersion in the Municipality of Bacnotan. Bacnotan is a first class municipality in the province of La Union, Philippines. Its economic activities in Bacnotan mostly involve farming, fishing, bee-keeping, pebble extraction, tourism and Portland cement manufacture. Immersion Blog #1: Seeking for Industry...

Immersion is to give students first-hand experience of the work environment applying knowledge, skill sets and techniques that have gained from the classroom in real life situations. It was Wednesday April 12, 2017, I was really excited to be immersed in an industry so I have passed a letter to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines situated at the Poro Point San Fernando, La Union. Upon   submitting my letter to the HR Officer, she ask me if from where am I and from what school and course are taking. After answering all her queries she told me that they are not accepting Graduate Programs only undergraduate programs. So my application for immersion at the NGCP was rejected. After being rejected at the NGCP I tried to submit my letter of immersion to another company, which is Holcim Philippines – Bacnotan Branch, situated at the Quirino, Bacnotan.
